Description: I can't believe that I hadn't heard of this movie until recently. Some it's say a vanity project of acclaimed director Tarsem Singh, (known for his intense visuals in The Cell with J-Lo) who spent millions of dollars of his own money to finance the movie, shooting it in 28 countries over the span of 4 years; meanwhile others say it is a pure work of art. I would have to agree with the latter. Every single image in this film is pure beauty (done with absolutely no CGI). From the swimming elephants to the mystics in the trees to the blue city and the man on a bed of arrows, this movie will keep you enthralled on the cinematography alone. Then there's the story line, which is a remake of a 1981 Belgian film called "Yo Ho Ho". Taking place in 1915 LA, a paralyzed stuntman, Roy, befriends and adorable Romanian child, Alexandria, and begins to tell her a fantastic adventure tale that involves a bomb-throwing Italian anarchist, an escaped African slave, an Indian (from India), and Charles Darwin and his pet monkey, all pitted against their sworn enemy, Governor Odious. As Roy unfolds the tale, we watch through Alexandria's eyes, noticing each change in the story and her personal feelings towards her storyteller. Whether you have to pirate this, netflix it or buy it, just do it, cause this is one of the most visually pleasing movies that have come out in a long time, why it wasn't nominated for any Oscars is beyond me.

ryan: this looks seriously awesome. i added it on my netflix queue after seeing the trailer and your review
Eric: good looks man, def worth it. Apparently its been out since '06 but it is just getting attention now, winning cinematography awards for 2008
